Seriously ill children and nurses visit Clarence House to meet Her Majesty The Queen

Today, five children and their Roald Dahl Nurses attended a festive event at Clarence House to help the charity’s Royal Patron, Her Majesty The Queen, decorate the royal Christmas Tree.

Yasir, aged four, Oscar-Ray, aged six, Cai, aged eight, Grace, aged five and Maisie, aged thirteen, were delighted to attend the very special festive gathering with their Roald Dahl Nurse and parents. The visit was arranged through Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, of which Her Majesty The Queen is the Royal Patron. The children, all living with complex, lifelong health conditions, also enjoyed a surprise visit from Father Christmas and his reindeer, and there was a wonderful performance by The Band and Bugles of The Rifles.

The annual visit to Clarence House is an absolute highlight of the year and a special memory for everyone involved. Louise Griew, Chief Executive at Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity says, “We are so grateful to Her Majesty The Queen for inviting our charity to again be part of such a magical event. Being diagnosed with a serious and complex illness is immensely difficult for a child and their whole family, bringing significant stress and worry. This day provides such a special memory for some of the heroic and brave children we support. It also recognises our marvellous Roald Dahl Nurses who provide vital specialist care to thousands of seriously ill children across the UK.”

We would also like to thank the generous businesses, hotels, venues, and our marvellous corporate partners, who helped us in planning the most magical event for seriously ill children and Roald Dahl Nurses, who deserve it so much.   Thank you to hoteliers JW Marriott Grosvenor House London, One Aldwych, The Stafford London, St Ermin’s and The Guardsman, who hosted the families and Roald Dahl Nurses ahead of their special day.  Thanks to the hospitality of Frameless and Mark Mason’s Hall, families enjoyed a visit to Frameless on Tuesday night and teas and coffees at Mark Mason's Hall before they visited Clarence House.  Travel throughout the day was kindly provided by Stagecoach buses, ensuring the families could relax and enjoy their day to the full. The families also enjoyed a tour to see the festive London lights. If you would like to support more seriously ill children, please help fund a Roald Dahl Nurse this Christmas at www.roalddahlcharity.org/donate.
