Why do we use face-to-face fundraising?

Face-to-face fundraising is crucial in allowing us to connect with potential supporters who may not otherwise hear about our work. It provides a predictable and stable stream of donations, enabling us to plan confidently for the future. This vital long-term support through consistent contributions ensures we can continue making a difference in the lives of seriously ill children and their families.

Do we work with agencies?

We partner with professional fundraising agencies to help us speak to more potential supporters than we could do ourselves. Our chosen partners are passionate about our work and adhere to the highest standards of professionalism. We expect all fundraisers to treat every interaction with respect and adhere to fundraising regulations and our marvellous fundraising promise.


Identifying a Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity Fundraiser

· Our fundraisers will be wearing a Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity t-shirt and or fleece; they are red with a yellow logo.

· They will wear a photo ID badge stating which agency they are employed by on our behalf, each with a unique ID number clearly displayed.

· They will never ask you for a cash donation.

· Our partnered agencies supply their fundraisers with digital tablets to collect supporter information, or they will use a QR code to take supporters to a screen where they can input their own information using their mobile phone, either way Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity logo and charity information will be displayed on the screen.


Your Information

All data collected on the digital tablets is securely encrypted and transferred in full compliance with GDPR. Your data is not stored on the tablets, and our fundraisers never have access to your private information. If using a QR code on your own mobile phone, your data is securely encrypted and transferred in full compliance with GDPR.


Where we operate

Our fundraisers operate across UK at private site events and streets all year round. We do not run door-to-door fundraising campaigns.


How do we ensure best practice?

We work closely with all our agencies to train the fundraisers to ensure they’re representing us correctly and to monitor the fundraiser behaviour, ensuring compliance with regulations.

We and our partners agencies are registered with the Fundraising Regulator, and we all adhere to the regulations and Codes of Practice set out by The Fundraising Regulator. For more information, please visit the Fundraising Regulator website.
